storming of the Capitol

Jamie Roberts

2021 | USA | 88 min

German

With previously unpublished material, award-winning author and director Jamie Roberts offers insights into the events of January 6, 2021. He shows in detail what happened in the four turbulent hours of the storming of the Capitol, when US democracy was in acute danger.

Members of the far-right organization "Proud Boys" were involved in the uprising, QAnon conspirators, right-wing influencers as well as real estate agents, police officers and even an Olympic gold medalist. They were people from all walks of life in American society who did not want to accept that their President Trump had been voted out of office.

The documentary impressively illustrates how politicians and security forces were attacked on the ground. It is based on extensive, previously unpublished material: video and cell phone recordings as well as live streams of the insurgents, posts on social media, recordings from surveillance cameras, police body cameras and audio recordings from the military.
