The Hummingbird Effect

Filipe DeAndrade

2023 | AFG | 50 Min

German

Costa Rica is only slightly larger than Switzerland. But when it comes to biodiversity, it is a superpower.

"The Hummingbird Effect" delves into the abundance of fauna and flora in this Central American country. Using the example of the hummingbird, of which there are more than 50 species, we see how birds and plants benefit from each other - a win-win situation. Monkeys, tapirs, iguanas and many other animal species also benefit from the tiny birds.

Using sophisticated camera technology, the film shows what is otherwise hidden from the human eye. This film is a treat to behold and reveals how important the rich coexistence of living creatures - biodiversity! - is.
