Urgewald has been fighting for environmental and human rights for 30 years. What began at the kitchen table of a shared flat in northwest Germany has become a large organisation that has already prevented the construction of a nuclear power plant and a reservoir. Today, the urgewald team presents groundbreaking projects such as the "Global Coal Exit List" at international climate conferences and encourages companies to withdraw from climate-damaging projects.
The documentary by Peter and Karin Wejdling takes a look at the development of the NGO from a small association to an influential organisation that effectively defends the environment and human rights. It shows how Urgewald is now recognised as a critical voice even in the highest echelons of the financial world. In addition to the founders, team members are also featured, as well as activists, financial insiders and politicians.
